Sonar and transducer
The Humminbird SOLIX 10 CHIRP GPS features the classic DualBeam Plus sonar which is enhanced by CHIRP technology. The unit doesn’t have Side Imaging or Down Imaging, but it is, however, compatible with the Humminbird 360 Imaging transducer.
The unit is capable of three frequencies, 50/83/200 kHz. And since its sonar is DualBeam Plus, it can use two frequencies simultaneously, either 50/200 kHz or 83/200 kHz.

The transducer included with the unit is the XNT 14 20 T, which is capable of 83/200 kHz. With this transducer, the unit can use Mid Band CHIRP and High Band CHIRP with a pulse modulation between 75-95 kHz, and respectively 175-255 kHz. This CHIRP pulse modulation leads to much clearer images than for standard one pulse sonar, resulting in a better target separation, and a better target determination.
The included transducer features a transom mount. It has 20′ of cable and also integrates a temperature sensor. The unit not only that can display the water temperature detected by the transducer, it also has a Temperature Graph function which shows the temperature variation over a certain area that you have scanned. This can be a very useful feature especially if you’re looking for certain water currents of different temperatures.
With the XNT 14 20 T transducer, this Humminbird fish finder system has a depth capability of 1,500 ft (457 m). However, with a 50 kHz capable transducer, it can scan depths up to 3,500 ft (1,066 m) or even 5,000 ft (1,524 m) with an optional Airmar CHIRP SM3000 external sonar module.
The XNT 14 20 T transducer uses two conical beams. Their coverage is 20° @ 200 kHz and 60° @ 83 kHz. It can deliver a decent fish target and bottom reading at speeds up to 25 MPH, but the recommended speed range for the best results is 1-12 MPH.
This Humminbird SOLIX unit offers all the necessary standard sonar features. Among them, we can count Selective Fish ID+, RTS, SwitchFire, Bottom Lock, Sonar SnapShot, Fish Alarm, Depth Alarm etc. It also has Sonar Recording and Sonar Rewind. Therefore, you can record your sonar history and scroll back through it if you want to take a second look at a certain area that you have scanned.
Navigation features
The Humminbird SOLIX 10 CHIRP GPS is equipped with a 10 Hz internal GPS which can offer 10 position fixes per second. It is capable of fixes within 2.5 meters, the boat’s position on the map being tracked smoothly, in real-time, without jumps from a point to another. The position fixes can be enhanced via EGNOS, MSAS or WAAS. Evidently, it shows coordinates and it can also calculate the speed of your boat.
The unit has waypoint marking, trail recording, and route creating functions. Its memory can stock up to 10,000 waypoints, 50 routes, and 50 tracks, with up to 20,000 points per track. And finally, it can support various external modules, including AIS, HD RADAR, Autopilot or i-Pilot Link.
Since it’s one of the newest Humminbird units, the SOLIX 10 CHIRP GPS is equipped with the new Humminbird Basemap charts. These charts are based on NOAA, LakeMaster, and other trusted chart sources. They’re considerably superior to the older ContourXD and UniMap. They provide depth contours, points of interest, nav-aids, and spot-soundings the entire U.S. coastline. They also cover more than 10,000 lakes.

The unit’s chart capabilities don’t end here, though. It is compatible with various premium charts. Among them, we can count LakeMaster Plus, Navionics Gold, Navionics Platinum+, and SmartStrike fishing charts.
Along with these charts, the unit also has the AutoChart Live feature which gives you the possibility to create real-time personalized maps of your favorite fishing spots with access to patented Humminbird LakeMaster features. The unit can store up to 8 hours of map recording; however, you can exponentially increase the recording capacity and possibilities with a Zero Lines SD card.
Control unit features
First of all, the Humminbird SOLIX 10 CHIRP GPS features a 10.1″ diagonal display, TFT type, with a 16-bit color range, and a pixel resolution of 1280 x 800. This being said, it delivers extra sharp imaging for the charts and sonar. It also integrated LED backlight providing an excellent readability in direct sunlight or at night.
The included mount is the classic Gimbal type, but there is also an in-dash mounting kit option.
The unit has a highly customizable and user-friendly interface. You can add the most used application to its homepage for quick access if you want. There are several view templates for the applications in use; you can view up to 4 application in a split-screen format.
The unit has CrossTouch technology. In other words, it combines touchscreen technology with keypad navigation. For example, it recognizes various touchscreen commands such as pinch in/out for zoom, swipe left/right/up/down, tap and hold, etc.
Bluetooth technology is another one of this unit’s features. This being said, the unit is compatible with the Humminbird Bluetooth RC2 remote control (which is not included). This remote control features several buttons with double function (long and short press). With it, you can control many of the unit’s functions from distance, which can be very convenient especially on a larger vessel.
Via Bluetooth, you can also pair the SOLIX unit with your smartphone. This way, the unit will show message alerts or phone call alerts on its display.
In terms of connectivity, the SOLIX 10 CHIRP GPS has high-speed Ethernet allowing you to build a professional fishing system or connect various add-ons to the unit, such as Minn Kota i-Pilot units, Radar or AIS units. It also supports NMEA 2000.
The unit has a dual microSD card reader. Therefore, you can use up to two microSD cards for data backup or for chart upgrades.
