The HOOK2-4X Bullet is one of the most basic Lowrance fish finders available at the moment. It’s similar to the HOOK2-4X GPS model, but lacks the GPS plotter feature. For reference, this is the Lowrance fish finder part number 000-14012-001.

Sonar and transducer

The Lowrance HOOK2-4X Bullet fish finder only Wide-Angle Broadband sonar. It does not have, nor it supports DownScan or SideScan sonar. It is also single-beam only, its operating frequency being 200 kHz. It does not support 50 kHz or 83 kHz.

The unit comes with the Bullet Skimmer transducer. This is a plastic transducer featuring a transom mount, 20 ft. (6 m) of cable with an 8-pin connector, and an internal temperature sensor. This transducer uses a wide-angle conical beam with a coverage of 40° and a maximum depth capability of 500 ft. (152 m).

The unit offers Automated Sonar Settings. This feature allows you to spend more time fishing and less time tuning the unit. It actively adjusts the sonar settings as the fishing conditions change. In all, it’s a plug-and-fish depth finder. Other standard sonar functions available with this fish finder are Fish ID, Circular Flasher, Shallow Alarm, Bottom Range, etc.

Control unit features

The Lowrance HOOK2-4X fish finder features a 4.3-inch WVGA color display with a pixel resolution of 480H x 272W. It has LED backlight for improved readability in direct sunlight. It is also IPX7 waterproof which means that it should withstand incidental water exposure and rain.

The unit is keypad operated; it does not have touchscreen technology. Since it’s a basic fish finder, it does not have networking features like NMEA or Ethernet connectivity. It also does not have an SD or microSD card reader.

The included mount for the unit hs the standard tilt-swivel bracket. The box does not include a unit cover or an in-dash mount.
