Sonar features and transducers
Since it’s an All-Seasons fish finder, the Humminbird ICE HELIX 7 CHIRP GPS G3N comes with two transducers. These are the Xi 9 1521 transducer for ice fishing, and the XNT 9 HW T transom transducer.
The Xi 9 1521 transducer comes with 8 ft (2.4 m) of cable and the foam floater for extra stability. Its CHIRP range is 130-250 kHz, it offers a coverage between 15° and 21°, and a maximum depth capability of 400 ft (122 m).
The XNT 9 HW T transducer includes a transom mount; it has 20′ (6 m) of cable and integrates a temperature sensor. This is a High-CHIRP transducer which offers the possibility to use the unit’s Full Mode (150-220 kHz), Wide Mode (140-200 kHz), and Narrow Mode (180-240 kHz). The Wide and Narrow modes have fixed intervals, but the Full Mode is adjustable. The transducer uses conical beams with a coverage of 42° for Full and Wide Modes, and 25° for Narrow Mode. Its maximum depth capability is 1,200 ft (365 m).
The unit itself also supports 50 kHz (Low CHIRP) and 83 kHz (Medium CHIRP) frequencies. It can be paired with 50/200 kHz (28-75/130-250 kHz) or 83/200 kHz (75-155/130-250 kHz) transducers from Humminbird for a greater depth penetration or different beam coverage.
Since it’s a unit designed for ice fishing, the ICE HELIX 7 CHIRP GPS G3N All-Season offers an advanced ice flasher with 1024 segments for a more detailed view of your jig and the fish attacking it. Along with the sonar segments, the flasher also provides plenty of other readings, including Gain, Depth, Range, the diameter of the sonar beam based on depth, Battery Status, Zoom Range, and more. Plus, as opposed to the older unit, it has a new Jig Charge Mode which gives you the possibility to quickly charge any glow-painted lure.
As opposed to the older ICE HELIX 7 G2 unit, the 411210-1 model makes available 6 interference rejection settings (up from 5) for keeping competing sonar signals from cluttering the display of your unit and for delivering a clear view of what’s under the ice. The unit also has an Adjustable Sonar Zoom feature. This allows you to put more focus on the bottom or on the water column under the transducer for superior fish detection. For the ice flasher, there are up to 2X zoom settings, while the Dual-Spectrum CHIRP sonar allows up to 8X zoom. Also, this new G3N unit offers a better target separation than the older G2 unit, this being 3/4″ (up from 1.5″).
Navigation features
The Humminbird ICE HELIX 7 CHIRP GPS G3N All-Season is equipped with an internal GPS receiver that supports EGNOS, WAAS, and MSAS for position augmentation. A GPS speed function is available as well. Plus, the unit can save up to 2,750 waypoints, 47 routes, and 50 tracks in its memory.
Similar to all other HELIX units, this one includes the Humminbird Basemap chart platform. These charts cover more than 10,000 U.S lakes with 1′ depth contours, and also provide coverage for coastal waters, showing depth markers, buoys, hazards, marinas, nav-aids, and various other points of interest. Plus, the unit is compatible with the Navionics+, Navionics Platinum+, LakeMaster, LakeMaster Plus, and SmartStrike fishing charts. However, it does not support the older Navionics Gold & HotMaps.
The unit also includes the new AutoChart Live Ice feature. This is a depth contour recording application that gives you the possibility to create custom 1-foot contour maps while on the ice. This being said, you can draw your own personalized maps for each one of your fishing spots with the most up to date depth contours, while using LakeMaster features such as Depth Highlight, Water Level Offset, or Shallow Water Highlight.
Although it’s a G3N unit and has extra networking features, the ICE HELIX 411210-1 does not support Radar and AIS units. It does, however, support GPS heading sensors and i-Pilot Link.
Control unit features and accessories
As its name suggests, the Humminbird ICE HELIX 7 CHIRP GPS G3N All-Season is equipped with a 7-inch display. It has a 256 color range, a pixel matrix of 800 x 480 and ultra-bright LED backlight. It is also IPX 7 waterproof.
The unit does not have touchscreen technology. It is operated exclusively from the keypad on the right. It has a highly intuitive interface, with an impressive number of readings shown on the flash application. It also offers split-screen possibilities, so you can work with up to two applications simultaneously.
Since it’s a G3N unit, the ICE HELIX 411210-1 offers Ethernet connectivity. Therefore, you can connect it with other Humminbird units for data transfer, or connect it with add-on technologies such as Minn Kota i-Pilot Link. Radar and AIS units are not supported, though.
In terms of connectivity, the unit also has Bluetooth. The Bluetooth connection allows you to sync your unit with your smartphone via the Humminbird FishSmart App for software updates, chart downloads from your ChartSelect account, or other data transfer. Plus, you can opt for a Bluetooth RC2 wireless remote control for your unit.
Similar to the other HELIX 7 units, the 411210-1 has a microSD card slot. This gives you the possibility to use different superior charts such as Humminbird Lakemaster or Navionics, or backup data such as waypoints on a blank SD card.
Finally, the included All-Season kit includes quite a few accessories. First of all, you get the portable case with the ice shuttle and cable warp for ice fishing, a 12V 9-Amp Hour battery, and a charger for the battery. Second of all, the box includes the 2D CHIRP transducer and the ice transducer. The 2D CHIRP transducer comes equipped with a transom mount, but you also get a suction cup mount. And third of all, you also get the classic Gimbal mount for installing your fish finder on a boat.
