The Garmin GT54UHD is the transducer typically included with the Garmin ECHOMAP UHD fish finders that are SideVü capable. The version included with the units only has the transom mount. However, the one presented here also includes the trolling mount. It features 20 ft. (6 m) of cable, a 12-pin connector, and integrates a temperature sensor. For reference, this is the Garmin transducer part number 010-12909-00.

Frequency and Coverage

The Garmin GT54UHD transducer supports multiple frequencies and three types of sonar, these being High Wide CHIRP, ClearVü, and SideVü, including the UHD mode for SideVü.

For traditional CHIRP it uses only one beam in a frequency range of 150-240 kHz. This beam has a conical shape and a variable coverage of 24°-16°. The maximum depth capability of the High Wide CHIRP beam is 800 ft. (244 m).

For ClearVü, it also uses only one beam in a CHIRP frequency range of 760-880 kHz. This beam is oval, not conical. Its coverage is 0.94° x 60° and its maximum depth capability is 200 ft. (61 m).

For SideVü, the GT54UHD transducer offers two modes, regular and UHD. The regular SideVü sonar uses the 425-485 kHz CHIRP range. It offers two (oval) beams with a range up to 500 ft. (152 m) on each side with a coverage of 1.6° x 50°. The UHD SideVü operates in a CHIRP range of 1020-1230 kHz for superior image clarity. The range of the two UHD Sv beams is only 125 ft. (38 m) and their coverage is 0.441°x 52°.

Echosounder Compatibility and Other Accessories

As we’ve mentioned above, the GT54UHD transducer is included with some of the ECHOMAP units. It is compatible with all the ECHOMAP UHD Sv units, as well as with the ECHOMAP Ultra Sv, and with the GPSMAP 800xsv, and GPSMAP 8600xsv.

Currently, all the units compatible with this transducer have a 12-pin connector so there is no 4-pin or 8-pin cable adapter for it. There are, however, two extension cables one 10 ft. (3 m) long part number 010-11617-32, the other 30 ft. long (9 m) part number 010-11617-42. Other compatible accessories for it apart from the included trolling motor mount and transom mount, are the Suction Cup Mount part number 010-11849-17, and the metallic Spray Shield mount 010-12006-11.

No. It’s a UHD transducer and only works with the ECHOMAP UHD, Ultra, and the newer GPSMAP units. It’s not compatible with the older units.
