Furuno recognizes the continued significance of standalone Radars, particularly for commercial vessels. Keeping this in consideration, Furuno has introduced a new range of standalone Radar Displays, offering various options specifically designed to cater to the requirements of almost any type of vessel. The FR10 (10.4″) and FR12 (12.1″) Radars are created to seamlessly work with Furuno’s acclaimed DRS antenna series. The remarkable feature is that users have the flexibility to select between Solid-State Doppler (NXT) or traditional X-Band Magnetron (X-Class) antennas according to their preferences and needs.

Furuno introduces an innovative feature – Risk Visualizer – available exclusively on the FR10 and FR12 Radars. This unique function offers a comprehensive visual representation of potential collision risks from all directions, encompassing a 360° view around the vessel. Unlike traditional CPA/TCPA alarms that only indicate risks along the current course of the ship, the Risk Visualizer evaluates the movement of all vessels in proximity.
Dynamic icons are automatically generated for the top 20 targets with the highest likelihood of collision. By utilizing data from the own ship and the AIS information of the targets (when accessible), the Risk Visualizer equips users with essential details to ensure safe distances when passing other vessels. This feature empowers navigators to plan the safest course and adjust their speed accordingly based on the surrounding vessel traffic, enhancing overall safety during navigation.
The new FR10 and FR12 Radars from Furuno come with an array of DRS Radar features, including Fast Target Tracking for instant display of target speed and heading. Connecting to an NXT Radar unlocks solid-state capabilities like Rain Mode, RezBoost Beam Sharpening, and Target Analyzer, offering quick identification of hazardous targets. Users can enjoy custom AIS presentation, flexible anti-clutter controls, and a stern-up display option.

For tug and push boats, a convenient barge mark feature allows the easy creation and retrieval of barge information, with the ability to display barge sizes as rectangles on the Radar. Additionally, the optional RP (Radar Plotter) board enables Radar echoes to be overlaid on MapMedia charts and synced with GP3700 GPS Chart Plotter Marks and Lines.
Furuno’s NXT series features cutting-edge Solid-State Radars equipped with pulse compression and Doppler frequency shift-sensing technology. Unlike traditional Radars that rely on magnetrons for generating pulses, the Solid-State Radar doesn’t require any consumable parts replacement and maintains consistent performance over time.
On the other hand, Furuno’s X-Class Radars continue to provide a dependable and cost-effective choice with their magnetron-based technology, catering to the needs of fishermen, cruisers, and workboat captains. The X-Class Radars offer enhanced short-range and long-range target detection while incorporating advanced features. Both the NXT and X-Class series come with a diverse range of antenna options, from domes to 6-foot open arrays.
